GéGé loco CKD

Here is a picture of a loco completely knocked down. A GéGé loco consists of about 50 parts.

About 50 parts for one loco

The base is the heavy chassis of (plastified) metal. The motor is situated in the middle and at each end we have the drive shafts and bearings.

Drive shafts and split frame bogie

The bogies consist of two axels with wheels, two sides of diecast and a thick plastic plate. Current is collected by a split frame construction in the bogie. And all the wheels pick up the current. This ensures very good driving qualities. The drivebelts provide a quiet drive.

In some loco’s light is added only on one site.

Drive belts
The chassis in working order

If you find a second-hand locomotive, usually the drive belts are dried out or broken and so is the connection between motor and drive shaft.  There are spare silicone parts to replace this.  Then a locomotive runs like new again.  The drive is very robust and the motor of very good quality.
